Our Club Captain Steve Hall will this week against Cumberland United, become the clubs first player to achieve the milestone of playing 100 First team Federation League Games for The Cove FC. This is a remarkable feat for our club, which was established in 1983 and joined the Federation in 2009 so in effect only 7 years young in the FFSA.
Steve is 22 years of age and has been playing soccer since the age of 6, immigrating to Australia from England in 2007, where he continued with his soccer career, joining The Cove FC in 2011. Steve started his career at The Cove FC as a winger, then as an attacking midfielder before settling on his preferred position as a deeper midfielder.
Steve has been our Club Captain for the past 2 seasons and sets a wonderful example to our junior and younger players, with his great work ethic both on and off the field, his loyalty and commitment to our club and great leadership.
This is reflected with Steve being awarded the Players Player award for the 2015 season, which he describes as one of his most memorable moments as a Cove FC player in receiving recognition from your teammates. Steve describes one of his most memorable Cove FC games as a cup game in 2011 against Enfield, whereby the team in stoppage time scored an equaliser and then went on to win on penalties.
Steve’s ambition with The Cove FC is to captain the Cove to their first promotion, which whilst they just missed out last year, Steve believes with this group of players they can turn it around in the second half of the season.
The Club will be honouring Steve’s 100th first team appearance with a presentation following our next home game on Saturday 4th June.
Congratulations Steve well done !
