Club Captain, Steve Hall to play his 100th First Team Game this weekend

Our Club Captain Steve Hall will this week against Cumberland United, become the clubs first player to achieve the milestone of playing 100 First team Federation League Games for The Cove FC. This is a remarkable feat for our club, which was established in 1983 and joined the Federation in 2009 so in effect only 7 years young in the FFSA.

Steve is 22 years of age and has been playing soccer since the age of 6, immigrating to Australia from England in 2007, where he continued with his soccer career, joining The Cove FC in 2011. Steve started his career at The Cove FC as a winger, then as an attacking midfielder before settling on his preferred position as a deeper midfielder.

Steve has been our Club Captain for the past 2 seasons and sets a wonderful example to our junior and younger players, with his great work ethic both on and off the field, his loyalty and commitment to our club and great leadership.

This is reflected with Steve being awarded the Players Player award for the 2015 season, which he describes as one of his most memorable moments as a Cove FC player in receiving recognition from your teammates. Steve describes one of his most memorable Cove FC games as a cup game in 2011 against Enfield, whereby the team in stoppage time scored an equaliser and then went on to win on penalties.

Steve’s ambition with The Cove FC is to captain the Cove to their first promotion, which whilst they just missed out last year, Steve believes with this group of players they can turn it around in the second half of the season.

The Club will be honouring Steve’s 100th first team appearance with a presentation following our next home game on Saturday 4th June.

Congratulations Steve well done !

100 Club 2015

The 100 club is a great opportunity to win some cash. It’s a bit like a lottery where 100 numbers are sold to members and prizes are drawn each home game. That’s 14 chances of winning for a single payment of only $100.

  • FIRST PRIZE = $100

  • SECOND PRIZE = $50

  • THIRD PRIZE = $20

At the end of the season we will hold a final free big draw event where 100 club members can relax with there families, share a few drinks and some good food and get a chance to win the $1000 grand prize.

We’d like to offer more prizes throughout the season but in order to do that we need to sell more numbers so the more the merrier as they say.

For more information or to reserve a number call Michelle on 0400 489 409 or catch her at training or the games. If you’ve already reserved a number payment is required by the 26th of April for the number to remain in the draw. You can pay online into the 100 club account BSB 035088 Account 134416 quoting your chosen number and your name.

Further changes to Round 1 Fixtures

So Sunday isn’t quite as hot as Saturday is meant to be but 39C is too hot for our planned games so the fixtures have changed again.

We will now be playing Cumberland on Sunday 15/2 and Monday 16/2 at the following times:

  • Sunday 15/2 – 9am Under 18s
  • Sunday 15/2 – 5:30pm Seniors
  • Monday 16/2 – 6pm Reserves

The boys are eager to get into the season and keen to meet Cumberland in an exciting opening game.
